The Inside Guide: April 2017

These are really the posts for my fellow bloggers and writers out there trying to establish themselves. Not many people start displaying their statistics from day one.

In these little reports, I hope to outline what I’m doing to try and turn nothing into something, and what works and what doesn’t. The internet is a big place, and being heard is extremely difficult.

Getting Out of the Friend Zone

When you first start something, the first people to support you are the ones closest to you. It’s super important and awesome when you’re supported by the people around you. I’m so thankful for the support of my family and friends. Something to remember though, is that those people may not be your target audience. Getting those people on board is a great place to start, but don’t get too caught up in trying to do so, or the accomplishment of doing so. They are biased toward you. Your One Thing

Dream big! When I started this blog, I wanted to become a full time blogger. That was my One goal. I recently read the book The One Thing, by Gary Keller, where he talks about dreaming big but going small. The more I push my dreams, the easier it is for me to reverse engineer that dream to figure out my next step right now. The greater my purpose the easier it is to focus on the next small decision. So what’s my One Thing? To build my own marketing firm and serve as creative director. Before I can do that, I need to become a marketing authority online. Before I do that, I need to blog about and learn about marketing. Before I do that, I need to start marketing my website. Before I do that, I need a stable SEO friendly website to market my ideas. Before I accomplish that, I need to optimize my javascript. So what’s my next step? Optimize my javascript.

Ground Zero

Documentation from day one. This isn’t a “Learn how to make $100k a month from blogging!”. I am starting at zero. This is literally day one, and I want to be completely transparent about my processes so that you and I can both learn something together. Read more “Ground Zero”
