The End? Blogging

The Last Post I’ll Ever Write

…under this domain. šŸ˜‰

So here’s the deal: My blog sucks.

Now you may think I’m being harsh or rash, but there areĀ several valid reasons as to why this website lacks growth potential.

I’ve only been blogging for three and half months! It takes much much longer than that to grow a site, but that’s why I’m doing this now.

I have a beautiful website, 100% of the graphics created for this site have been my own, and I do genuinely believe that I can write compelling and professional copy. But over the past three months of being in this field, I have learned so many things I didn’t know on day one. I mean, that was kind of the point of all this..

But now, learning what I have, there are just a few things that I need to adjust and take time to think onĀ before I continue.

Here are some reasons that this blog doesn’t work:

Pillars of Marketing Marketing

The Five Pillars of Marketing

Attempting to establish a brand or business through online marketing in the age of content overload is like dropping a baitless hook into the middle of the ocean hoping a fish will bump into it with its mouth open. The odds are not ā€œever in your favorā€. The competition is fierce. Itā€™s scary out there, and it can seem like you are destined to fail. I know thatā€™s how I feel here more often than not.

So what can you do??

Living Among Giants: How can I compete?

When you just start something, it can be kind of daunting to look at your competition. You’re starting from scratch, and they already have things established; in some cases, great things. How could you ever compete with these people who are already there?

Well, the Persian army was certainly “already there” when King Leonidas of Sparta and his army of 7,000 free menĀ stoodĀ their ground for 7 days against more than 100,000 Persians leading to the demise of the Persian invasion. The Greeks didn’t have nearly the numbers or resources, but they certainly made a mark in the history books. A strong mentality can go a long way.

What Do You Do When You Lose All Motivation?

Everyone has their ups and their downs. It’s normal. But what do you do when you really justĀ can’t find any motivation?Ā You were so moved and inspired to do something that you actually took action, but now it feels impossible to achieve what you set out to accomplish. Negativity has suddenly creeped in, and the odds are against you.

Obviously you thought it possible at some point because you made a move, but just knowing that you were motivated at thatĀ point in time isn’t enough to motivate you today. You know you were born to fly, but all of the sudden, jumping out of the nest is the last thing you want to do.

The Inside Guide: April 2017

These are really the posts for my fellow bloggers and writers out there trying to establish themselves. Not many people start displaying their statistics from day one.Ā

In these little reports, I hope to outline what I’m doing to try and turnĀ nothing into something, and what works and what doesn’t. The internet is a big place, and being heard is extremely difficult.

Facebook: Does it Market?

A. This is not a scientific paper or study.
B. Like a scientific paper, this does have a conclusion at the bottom that contains everything you need to know šŸ˜‰

Over the past month I dipped my feet into the pool ofĀ Facebook advertising. This isn’t the “Guide to creating the perfect Facebook advertisement” post. This is the “I’m just starting out and want to experiment with Facebook advertising” post.

Kings of Content

Kings of Content: GoPro

The Story

The action created the camera.

Nick Woodman, GoPro CEO, started with a boom to bust online gaming service that ended with the dot-com crash in the early 2000ā€™s. After taking a big hit, he decided to take a hiatus on business activities and go on an extended surfing trip to Southeast Asia with his wife. Somewhere along the way he started using a Kodak disposable camera attached to his wrist with a broken surfboard leash and some rubber bands for the purposes of catching those great waves in photos.

10 Signs You Would Love Creating Content Online

When I was a wee lad, one of my favorite playtime activities was building with Legos; specifically building Lego spaceships. If youā€™ve seen the Lego Movieā€¦. SPACESHIP!!

The concept of a ā€œspaceshipā€ gave every project direction, which made it easy to start. The building allowed me to continuously express my creativity with every design, while repeatedly experiencing the gratification of completing a new project. Now I’m creating online postsĀ that allow me to express creatively, and continuously complete mini projects. Same concept; different medium.

Whether it’sĀ writing, video creation, or podcasts, content creation is extremely fun and can be a very lucrative hobby. It’s something you can easily start on the side outside of your current job.

Here are some signs that might suggest you should look into putting some of your own content on the internet. If you have any other fun examples, share them in the comments šŸ™‚
